Per-set logging with personal records flagged automatically

Clients log the weight and reps of each set. Trainzilla works out an estimated one-rep max, marks a new personal record when a lift beats their best, and gives you the day’s PRs in one notification instead of making you scroll through logs.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Client logs sets

In the Train tab, a client enters weight and reps for each set, in kg or lbs.

  2. Step 2

    PRs are flagged

Each lift is compared with the client’s best for that exercise. A heavier weight or a higher estimated one-rep max is a PR.

  3. Step 3

    You get a digest

After a client stops logging for 45 minutes, you get one notification with that day’s PRs.

What’s included

  • Estimated one-rep max uses the Epley formula, for sets of 1 to 12 reps
  • The first time a lift is logged is the baseline, never a PR
  • Day Logs on the web dashboard compare actual sets with the plan, with a personal-bests panel
  • Coaches can log a session for a client; it is tagged “Logged by coach”
  • Weights show in each client’s own unit, kg or lbs

Questions

Does it track PRs for bodyweight exercises?

Not yet. Personal records are based on weight lifted and estimated one-rep max.

How is a PR decided?

On our server, against every earlier log of that exercise for that client, so the web dashboard and the app agree.

Do clients see their PRs?

Yes. The new-PR message appears in the latest version of the client app.
